National Neuroscience Institute Brain Awareness 2019

Better Minds, Better Lives, Better Tomorrow

On 18 May, PTC System(S), an enterprise data management and solutions company sponsored the Broken Brains Head Injury Support Group booth at NNI Brain Awareness 2019 which focused on raising awareness of neurological conditions, such as Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, Stroke, and Brain tumors. The roadshow was open to the public and approximately 2,000 people were in attendance. During the roadshow, attendees asked questions, shared opinions, visited and participated in interactive booths.

Guest-of-Honour Mr. Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of Trade and Industry and Member of Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC and A/Prof Ng Wai Hoe, Medical Director National Neuroscience Institute gave the opening addresses. Over the course of the two-day event, several health talks were given on topics such as Parkinson's Disease, Back pain, Stroke, Brain aneurysms, Dementia, Brain Nutrition, Brain tumor, and Advance care planning by NNI, Tan Tock Seng Hospital staff and members from volunteer welfare organizations.

During the day, participants had the opportunity to choose among 5 different support groups to find out more information on the issues concerning them the most. These support groups included the (Broken Brains) Head Injury Support Group, Brain Tumour Society, Alzheimer's Disease Association, Singapore Parkinson Society, and Singapore National Stroke Association. Also available as a complimentary Parkinson Screening for attendees that were above 60 years of age. And throughout the roadshow, there were health exhibits and stage performances by KK hospital, Health Promotion Board, Changi General Hospital, schools, volunteer welfare organizations, community clubs, and members of the public.
